The Great Glen Way Rangers provide information and advice to users prior to commencing the route and while they are on the Way. They produce the Accommodation and Services Guide and also deal with enquiries by phone, post, email and website. The Rangers patrol and inspect the route regularly and undertake a variety of maintenance tasks, from felling trees to installing seats. They work closely with other agencies such as Forestry Commission Scotland to keep the route clear, safe and enjoyable for all users. The Rangers also run events throughout the year aimed at getting people from all walks of life out on the route and enjoying the outdoors, such as wild food workshops, whole Way walks and navigation courses. For more details, please click here. The Rangers provide environmental education, countryside interpretation and work regularly with local communities thoughout the Great Glen. Recent projects have included installing a willow dome at a local school, as well as helping them work towards Eco-School status. The Rangers also work with different community groups on Conservation Days to plant trees, such as Health & Happiness Highland, Action for Children and The Bridge. We also produce and publish a variety of reports on the route. Whether you want to learn about business liaison workshops, management plans, marketing, development, ranger workplans or simply read a summary of the past season - all this information is available on our Ranger Reports page.
